PLATOON WAR: VIETNAM is a solitaire game of Small-Unit Combat during the Vietnam War where the Player assumes the role of an American Soldier (or Marine) by creating their own Player Soldier Character. Your Player Soldier starts out as a member of a Rifle Platoon and will be assigned a variety of Missions that you must complete during your Tour of Duty. Missions include Reconnaissance, Intelligence Gathering, Ambushes, Raids, Search & Destroy, Hearts and Minds, Rescues and many others. The Game Scale is 1:1 where each Counter represents a Single Soldier or Vehicle. During the course of your Campaign, your Player Soldier will gain in Rank and may even transfer to an Elite Special Forces Platoon such as the Green Berets, LRRPs, FORCE RECON or Rangers.

GAME OBJECTIVE: The objective of OPERATION: NAM is to successfully
complete a number of missions to locate and destroy enemy forces in order to
gain Mission Points (MP) for the US Forces. The player can choose to play a
short game (6 Missions), a moderate game (9 Missions) or a full Tour (12
Missions). Once all Missions have been resolved (successfully or not) the
Player totals his MP and compares this with the Victory Determination Table to
determine the level of success.
